EMOTIONS
I love our emotions theme because it is so important for kids to work on recognizing their feelings…especially when things are getting difficult. Something that Corey, Megan & I like to do is when we notice how their reacting to something and we try to discuss with them in that moment on how they’re feeling. So if a friend was really upset because someone wrecked their tower we would say “It looks like you’re frustrated that ______ wrecked your structure. What could we do?”. We could use our words, figure out a calming strategy or ask a teacher for help. Our calming corner is another resource that isn’t used as a punishment at all but as a way for a child to get some space to calm themselves down. There are different tools that we would love for y'all to check out in case you’re interested in creating one at home!
We will have soccer again tomorrow as a makeup day for the rain cancellation last Tuesday. We’ll continue to do gymnastics until we have to park the bus for the winter so that date is TBD. We will still have Hip Hop, Yoga, Spanish and Storytime throughout the year!
We are having such a great start!! I’m so proud of our new friends for settling in so nicely and for our older friends who are accepting the challenge to be leaders at Rainbow! Just a reminder that you are welcome to hangout in the morning for free play if you’re available. Let me know how we can best support your child!
